What you need to know

Hello Malaysian bloggers

I have recently moved back to Msia and am still learning my way around. I've been spending a bit of time (quite alot actually!) browsing several Msian blogs.I was so happy to find so many creative people. I'm more used to looking at UK and US blogs. There's so many talented bloggers here in Msia. I find its not only the art that interest me but I learn a bit about the different cultures and backgrounds as well. Admittedly my Bahasa is a bit rusty and sometimes I can't understand everything. Wish I could meet you all in person and look at your art. I'm especially inspired by the quilling blogs like Lin's, Miyyah's and Simple Rhyme (see sidebar) - I know there's lots more of you but I haven't got around to you yet.  See the reason is, I bought some basic quilling tools ages ago but never got around to using them. I have lots of crafty tools and things with me that have never seen daylight! (I know, I know! what a waste) so I should start by learning to quill. Girls (and guys if any) I hope you can help me when I need some supplies as I'm totally lost about where to get them (ie besides the big craft stores). As for me, I would love to share my art and answer any questions about it (or at least point you in the right direction) so if you've any questions please don't be shy, email or leave a comment. Happy crafting!

Teddy's day out AC010

Another cutie image coloured with Prismas. I coloured it to match the background papers. My first attempt at drawing grass as teddy needed to be "grounded'.

The butterfly punchie has 2 pearls stuck on it. The border punch at the bottom is the popular Doily punch by Martha Stewart. I love this punch and its been much used in my projects. Card size: 12.7 x 16.4cm

A Kiss for You B004

Isn't this image cute? I coloured it with Prisma colour pencils. The bottom scallop is punched out of blue vellum.

Circle background paper has some glitter to give it a bit of bling! Card is 14.7 x 10.4cm

Butterfly dreams OR002

Here I did a collage with 3 stamps - bamboo, buterfly and fabric background (its quite subtle so doesn't show up very well in photo). The background lines you can see is scored with a Scor Pal. You score the lines one way then turn the card and do the same the other way to get the criss cross effect.

Stamping is done after the card has been scored. If you haven't seen a Scor Pal, here's the link http://www.scor-pal.com/
I find it very useful for all sorts of projects. Hope you like this card. Size 13.5 x 13.5cm

So sweet! AC009

This little girl is so sweet. The background designer paper is by K & Co. As it already had lots of details it was easy to just add the image and some embellishments.

Another view - I added pink gems to the flower centres. The leaves are punchies and I embossed them on the reverse to give some dimension. Card size: 14.3 x 14.3cm

Another birthday teddy B003

I love this stamp! The teddy is so cute and its really easy to colour. I have used watercolour paper and distress inks.

The layout is from SCS (Splitcoaststampers). I wanted a neutral simple colour scheme so went with brown.

Black and white AC008

Black and white theme this time with a stamp that I've had for ages (but unused!). Remember how gorgeous Audrey Hepburn was in Breakfast at Tiffanys? One of the 'bestest' movies ever. The background of glittered circles reminds me of Christmas baubles. I thought this could be for guys or girls. For guys I am thinking I will have an insert with the words '...wanna buy a nice girl a drink' or '...heard its your birthday today'. Haven't decided what to do for girls. What do you think? Another square card (love them) size 14 x 14cm.

Hydrangea AC007

A really simple card. I always feel I must add lots of embellishment to make a card interesting but sometimes less is more. This is a digi image of a hydrangea (unfortunately I can't remember whose it is) which I coloured with Prisma colour pencils. Also added 3 purple gems.

A closer look at the image. This is a square card 13.5 x 13.5cm.

Something different AC006

I've been meaning to try out this technique with Distress Inks and here's the result. Its quite easy and fast. I used 4 different colours of ink for the background then sprinkled some water on it to give the speckled effect.
 A fun technique and a bright cheery card. Size: 15 x 10.5cm

Precious baby boy NB001

I haven't done any baby cards for awhile so here's one.
Started off with a plan to use blue, yellow and white but ended up with just blue and white. I like the clean look about it. The white bubbly layer was made with a cuttlebug folder. Card is 10.5 x 14.7cm

Birthday B001

The photo does not do justice to the real thing. The soft colours are so pretty. I purposely kept the design minimal to show off the designer papers. Hope you like the result. Card Size: 14.3 x 14.3cm

Big Hugs AC005

Another Sugar Nellie stamp - sweet little Daisy (that's her name). Coloured with Distress Inks as usual. The ornate photo corner was done with a Cuttlebug die. Paper roses from my stash. Hope you like this card.
Size: 12.5 x 17.7cm

Hello from the heart AC004

Today I decided to do a floral card. I used the stamped images to mask before stamping a row of flowers. They were then coloured with Distress Inks. Added a bit of glitter and some gold perfect pearl in the centre. The background looked a bit white so I swiped some ink to fill in the spaces. Turned out real pretty which is quite satisfying as I was only playing around with the stamp. Card size: 16.4 x 12.7cm

Status: SOLD

Special Day AC003

A Sassy Cheryl digi image that was a dream to colour. The advantage of digi images (for those who haven't tried it) is that you can print in any size to suit your card or theme. Just make sure the card or paper is not too thick to pass through your printer. The daisies are shop bought long time ago and the leaves are punched out. Martha Stewart's doily lace punch provides a nice border for the background. A nice cheery card to brighten up your day. Some cards are such a pleasure to make and this is one of them. Size of card: 13.5 x 13.5cm

Serenity OR001

This is one of my favourites. The soft colours are very easy on the eye. This stamp is by Kodomo who make some beautiful oriental stamps. Oriental scenes are just my absolute fave. This scene actually tells a story about forbidden love but I can't remember it. Image was stamped then I used a square punch to make a tiled effect (hmm...... I wonder if my sis-in-law would let me tile our new kitchen - I think not!). Do you like it? Size of card:  10.5 x 14.9cm

Teddy Birthday B002

Did I mention I like to colour images? Well, here's another again coloured with Distress Inks. I chose subtle yellow designer papers for matting and layering. You can't see it very well in the photo - the bottom layer is striped. I chose them from a book of soft tints papers by Hot Off The Press. Size of card is 12.7 x 16.4cm

Tulips AC002

I've had this tulip stamp in my stash for ages (unused of course). I found it while looking for something else and suddenly an idea was born. Its a simple card but quite effective and shows off the stamp well. Now I've found it I must make sure I use it more often. Size:17.8 x 12.5cm

Sweet Card AC001

A sweet card suitable for most occasions. This is an image from Sugar Nellie which I have coloured with Distress Inks. The flowers I made with my punches and stuck on some flower gems. Don't you think she's really sweet? I like Hello cards because they are useful for most occasions or just  to keep in touch with a friend....to let them know they're in your thoughts.
Size: 14.3 x 14.3cm
